The emphasis on MEDIC FIRST AID is to help you to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to manage a medical emergency until more advanced help is available. The program incorporates short video segments combined with a student guide, skill demonstrations and group practices in an effective, low-stress manner to help you learn. Emergency-Basic-1 day
The emphasis is on safely identifying and managing immediate, life threatening medical emergencies. Training focuses on basic information, assessment, and skills to offer the best chance for survival for the patient.
Some topics covered are Emergency First Aid Care including bandaging, barriers, assessing for response, spinal injury, airway, breathing, circulation, CPR for cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, intro to defibrillators, Choking, Shock, Serious Illnesses, Significant Injury, Caring for Specific First Aid Problems, Moving Patients and Emotional Impact. Excellent for manufacturing.
Standard-Basic Plus-2 days
Students are taught the same priorities of care and approach to the patient used by professional emergency care providers.
The emphasis in MEDIC FIRST AID Basic Plus Standard training is on safely identifying and managing immediate, life-threatening medical emergencies.
Training includes supplemental materials, such as additional segments on specific first aid topics, small group scenario, practices, and a few segments showing higher-level first aid skills. Some topics covered are Emergency First Aid Care, Personal Safety, Using Barriers, Airway, Breathing Circulation, CPR for Cardiac Arrest, Rescue Breathing for Respiratory Arrest, 2 Healthcare Provider CPR, Sudden Cardiac Arrest using an AED, Bandaging, Shock, Choking, Serious Illnesses, Significant Injury, Performing a Physical Assessment, Obtaining a Patient History, Specific First Aid topics such as burns, eye injury …and more—topics may be specific to your business, Emotional Impact etc.Excellent for those wishing more detailed information in First Aid/CPR.
CPR-C
Medic First Aid CarePlus CPR is designed primarily for the community emergency care provider. It follows current medical and educational guidelines and meets federal and provincial requirements for training individuals in CPR for Cardiac Arrest and Basic AED or automated external defibrillator operation, Foreign body airway obstruction, clearing the airway, control of bleeding and shock. This course is excellent for anyone interested in CPR and especially suitable to meet the needs of dental offices, physiotherapists office, health and wellness/fitness centres .References can be supplied.
PEDIATRIC and pediatric plus
Medic First Aid Pediatric training programs are designed primarily for parents and child care providers. They follow current medical and educational guidelines and meet federal provincial and territorial regulatory requirements for training child care workers in child, infant and adult CPR and first aid.
The Pediatric training program teaches information and skills a first aid provider must know and be able to perform to provide effective emergency care to an injured or ill child, infant, or adult before professional medical care is available. Pediatric plus includes basic defibrillator operation. This is a first aid program geared toward special first aid issues which arise with children and infants. It is especially helpful for parents and daycare centre or anyone who is opening a daycare centre.
CPR-C-AED Supplement
This course covers the basic operation of the defibrillator and also covers the steps to be taken to administer CPR prior to the arrival of the defibrillator.
It will help you to anticipate various scenarios and to gain confidence in how you would approach such emergencies and use your defibrillator effectively and efficiently.
